Bathyswath-1 and SWATHplus

Bathyswath-1 STD (Standard) and SP (Splash Proof)

Bathyswath-1 is an efficient & affordable bathymetric & seabed mapping survey system, derived from the established & respected SWATHplus system.

  • Bathyswath uses wide swath widths, this increases survey speeds significantly, especially in shallow water.
  • It has 3 frequencies: 1 1 7, 234 or 468 kHz to be used respectively up to 350, 200 & 80m of water depth.
  • The US Geological Survey (USGS) said: “Operating swath of the bathymetric system ranged from 15 to 20 times water depth in in depths less than 15m”.
  • A forward-facing transducer can be installed in order to increase data density below the transducers (nadir).

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  • 2 or 3 transducers (117, 234 or 468 kHz - 1 meter tail each)
  • A data acquisition, processing and 3D visualization software (unlimited licences, no PC is supplied)
  • 1 Transducer Interface Unit (TIU) including 1 to 3 Transducer Electronic Modules (TEM) inside a Dry-TIU (Blue metal box) or a Splash-TIU (IP65)
  • 1 to 3 cable extensions for the transducers (5, 10, 15, 20 or 25 m each - 15m max. for 468 kHz transducers)
  • 1 V-bracket for 2 or 3 transducers
  • 2 rugged transit cases
  • 12 month return-to-base warranty and packaging

MOUNTS & SPLASHPROOF HOUSING (OPTIONAL)

2 types of mounts are proposed: A Universal Mounting Kit to allow deployment on vessel of opportunity and a Side Mounting Kit for installation on RIBs. Note: Bathyswath system is supplied with a V-bracket for 2 or 3 transducers.
Splashproof Housing is an option for Bathyswath Standard.

SOFTWARE

Bathyswath data acquisition and processing software is included in system price but you can also interface to 3rd party software systems such as QINSy, SonarWiz, CARIS, Hypack, Fledermaus, Starfix and PDS2000.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN BATHYSWATH-1 and SWATHPLUS

SWATHplus was manufactured and sold by Systems Engineering & Assessment Ltd. (SEA - www.sea.co.uk ) until August 2012. It was then taken over by ITER, who implimented some small improvements and renamed it Bathyswath.

There are indeed no major differences:

  • Transducers are all the same
  • Electronics are the same
  • Software is the same
  • The Splash-proof housing has changed and is limited to 2 transducers only
  • The Dry housing will change from the traditional blue box to a nice looking design
